Well, I am starting 2009 off with some finished paintings under my belt (finally). Three of which made it into a current show at CPop Gallery here in Detroit. I am gearing up to apply to grad school and am super excited to work with a painting proff whose work I really love this term. I also have about 5 paintings that could be done if I just sit my ass down and wrap up all those little details. I am getting better at not being so obsessive and actually embracing some negative space. I have a good feeling about 2009 and actually hope I can pull some amazing work out of this mess of a mind I have.

The unbelievable uncontrollable excitement is just bubbling over! Since the birth of my daughter 2 years ago I just haven't been able to paint. So this summer I am taking a post-degree painting class and I swear i've gotten more done in two days than in 2 years. Thank god!

Things have gotten more balanced in my life over the last few months. Still not enough time to do my art, but we are currently converting a bedroom into a studio for me (thanks husband!). This makes me very optimistic that I may actually get to paint in 2008!

Ever wish life could just slow down and take it's time? All the things I do I want to do, but there is not enough time to do them without thinking about everything else. I guess I've hit a rough patch where I have to figure out my priorities. It's coming out in my art, when I have time...

Well, throwing myself out into the art world is actually going really well so far. Seeing one of my paintings hanging in The Dirty Show 8 opening in Detroit Friday night, with thousands of people checking it out, was really amazing. I kept finding myself hanging back and watching people look at my art. Crazy to see something so personal out there for everyone to see.
I also just got two pieces into a juried show at CPOP Gallery in Detroit in March. They are in my gallery if you want to scope them out: The Embryo and Passage Through the Pelvis. The judges include local Detroit superstar Niagra and super rockabilly king Reverend Horton Heat! I am jumping up and down in my mind!
